Howdy, neighbor
Whether you’ve just unpacked the moving truck or you’ve lived here all your life, The Lynchburg Almanac is a plain, old-fashioned almanac of the town: a directory to help you find your way around Lynchburg and Moore County, the town calendar, local history, and its people. Listings are free, and every one names the public source it came from.
Lynchburg is the county seat of Moore County, the state's second-smallest county at about 129 square miles. Since 1988 the city and county have shared one consolidated government, the Metropolitan Government of Lynchburg, Moore County, whose boundaries match the county's. The town lies in the valley of East Fork Mulberry Creek, in the Elk River watershed.
Around town: The historic courthouse square (the Lynchburg Historic District, on the National Register) and the 1885 Moore County Courthouse; the 1893 Moore County Old Jail, now a museum; shops and restaurants around the square; the distillery tours that draw visitors from around the world; and the Tennessee Whiskey Trailhead & Welcome Center on Lynchburg Highway.
