How to do it
- Check the museum's hours first; our history page says it's open May to November, Fridays and Saturdays, (931) 297-2450.
- Go to 521 Main Ave. S. Our tour says Borden built the plant in 1927 to turn local milk into butter and powdered milk.
- Inside, look for how many farmers sold milk here (our tour says more than 1,200 at its peak).
- Ask about admission before you go.
Grown-ups’ part
Come along, keep it short and fun, and let the kids lead the looking and asking. You handle anything that involves calling, sending or sharing.
Think about it
If 1,200 farm families depended on one plant, what happened to them when it closed?
